The Culls

A couple of months ago, I hosted a giveaway on my friend Kirsten’s blog, The Foreign Domestic. The Culls won the shoot, and had the (awesome) idea to do bridal portraits. Like us, they didn’t get the really great, outdoor pictures they dreamed of at their wedding, so we decided to have a little re-enactment (insert Civil War re-enactor joke here). They were tons of fun.

Anyway, we had a blast, and we’re loving all the awesome shots. Big thanks to the Culls and Kirsten!

Cokor Trash the Dress

As military wives, many of us have had a JP wedding instead of a “real” one, and because we move so much, no one wants to haul the dress around forever (Your daughter is NOT going to wear it, you delusional women out there). So how excited was I when Tanya told me that she wanted to do the bridal shoot they had never had AND trash the dress? VERY excited.

We found the perfect location (Raven Rock Park, NC), and Tanya made my life better by agreeing to walk a whole mile to the shoot site (and back again) in dressy shoes. She is such a trooper, and I think the pictures speak for themselves in AWESOMENESS.

Our Trash the Dress

It’s our anniversary (yesterday, actually), and we’re celebrating four fun, crazy years together. It’s been a wild ride, but we’ve enjoyed it immensely (and here’s to 40 more!).

One of the most awesome things we did two years ago was pull out my wedding dress and do a Trash the Dress photo shoot. Our wedding photos had been very traditional, and we wanted something fun, creative, and different to put on our walls. Jim and Sarah Werner at Werner Photography did our shoot, and they were amazing! We trekked all over Oklahoma City and had the photo shoot of our dreams. In honor of the anniversary, we wanted to pull these out and show everyone.

Trash the Dress is such an awesome concept, and it’s a load of fun whether you are a newlywed or a longer-wed. If you don’t have your original wedding dress (or don’t want to spoil it), you can usually find one (or a decent formal that will suit) at a thrift store. And if you need artistic inspiration, just Google it!

Jon and Brittany Part II

Things have been busy around here with all the updates to the website, but I finally got the second half of Jon and Brittany’s photo shoot at Longue Vue processed. Hope you love them as much as I do!

When I found out my brother Jon and his lovely bride, Brittany, would be at our family reunion in New Orleans this summer, we talked about doing a Trash the Dress session in the French Quarter. A great, 80′s style wedding dress was obtained at our thrift store’s half-off Thursday sale for the occasion.

And then we remembered Longue Vue House and Gardens. Let me explain: Grandmom used to take us to Longue Vue when we were children to tour the gorgeous mansion and gardens. I even got to work there for a few weeks one summer right after graduation, so this place is, like, legendary. And we got permission to shoot there! Unfortunately, the great powers would frown upon TOO MUCH glee, so we decided to save our romp-in-the-fountains photo shoot for a time when we might not get anyone in trouble.

And THEN something happened to make this change of heart entirely worthwhile. Grandmom, upon hearing of our plan, went into the attic and returned with a GORGEOUS old wedding dress. And amazingly, it fit Brittany as though it had been made for her!

So this shoot was a dream come true for me (and Brittany). We actually did it in two parts, and this is only the first of those… just a little sneak peak for Jon and Brittany.
