Meet Grant. He’s my new little buddy, and it’s his first birthday! He smiles like sunshine, and he does it a lot. In fact, he laughed and grinned at us constantly, except in those moments when he was engaged with more important matters… like eating plastic bugs, picking grass, and smashing his yummy birthday cake… ya’ know– weighty stuff. I think he may have a future in male modeling? We’ll have to check with his mama first.

Caleb’s Cake Smash

From the day Caleb was born we were looking forward to him turning one so we could do a Cake Smash for his first birthday. We had so much fun with Venna’s Cake Smash last year, we just had to do one of our own. We had acquired a giant cupcake pan and taped a bunch of balloons to the wall in my new studio (Thanks Pinterest!). Thankfully Caleb cooperated and we couldn’t be more pleased with how cute it turned out.

First off, can I just say how awesome cake smashes are? I totally wish I had known about this when my daughter had her first birthday. I loved meeting Venna and her family yesterday. She’s so cute and sweet and such a charmer. The poor girl wasn’t too impressed with having dirty hands but the great thing about this age is that even when they’re sad or angry, toddlers can still look adorable. Happy Birthday, Venna!
